is the Feast of St. Blaise. Blessing of throats will take place
after the Masses.
First Friday Masses celebrated ,
February 3rd: 7:30 a. m. & 7:00 p.m. Exposition of the
Blessed Sacrament following the 7:30 a.m. Mass until 6:30 p.m.
The Holy Hour is from 1:00-2:00 p.m. All adoration is
in the church on First Friday
The St. Monica Sodality's monthly mass for conversion will
be offered on First Saturday, February 4th,
at 4 p.m. Recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet, Rosary, and St.
Monica Prayer for conversions start in the church at 3:15pm. St. Monica
Prayer cards and prayer-petition forms are located on the tables at the
side entrances in the church. Write the names of those for whom you are
praying, and deposit them into the box provided. Petitions forms are
strictly confidential, and will be placed on or near the altar during
the Mass. Call 313.885.6910 for more info. The St. Monica Sodality prays
for loved ones to return to the Church, for conversions to the Faith ,
and also for our own sanctification. Everyone can participate in the
Sodality prayers and Mass.
The Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes will be prayed
after all Masses from February 2nd through 10th.
On February 11th, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the 7:00 p.m. Mass
will be preceded by the rosary at 6:30 p.m. The relic of St. Bernadette
will repose in Church from February 11th through February 18th, her
feast day. Veneration of the relic will take place after all Masses on
February 18th.
The Knights of Columbus are sponsoring the Wedding
Anniversary Mass for couples married 25 years or more on
February 11, at the 4 P.M. Mass. A
light dinner will be served after Mass in the Lounge. Please call the
rectory to register.
Anyone who would like to offer the 30 Days’ Prayer
leading up to the Solemnity of St. Joseph on March 19th
for a special intention should begin the
prayer on Wednesday, February 18th, or Thursday, February 19th.
The Church also encourages Catholics to venerate St. Joseph especially
during March. Why not offer the 30 Days’ Prayer for the entire month?

Eleventh (2011) Annual Winter Cotillion - Fat Tuesday,
February 21, in the gym. Music ,
traditional reels, old dance tunes of the Colonies and line dances from
the late 1700’s to mid 1800’s. Refreshments 6:30 p.m., dancing commences
at 7:00 p.m. with the Grand March. Tickets $7.00 available in advance or
at the door.Bring your favorite Hors D’Oeuvre or finger food and Pazki

The Knights are sponsoring the Monastic Suppers again on the Fridays
of Lent followed by a Lenten Reflection with Fr. Perrone. A variety
of soups will be available plus cheese, fruit and a beverage for $8.00 a
plate. Dinner will be served in the gym from 4-6:30 p.m., Lenten
Reflection at 6:00 p.m., followed by 7:00 p.m. Mass and Stations of the
Cross. Supper will be served on the following Fridays: February 24,
March 2, 9, 23 ,30, and April 6th. No supper on March 16th.
Natural Family Planning Classes at Grotto. A
three-class course on Natural Family Planning will be offered here at
Grotto for anyone who is getting married here or at other churches on
the eastside of Detroit or suburbs. The classes will be held in our
lounge on Sunday, March 18th; April 29th and May 20th. from 1:30-4:30
p.m. in the lounge. The teaching couple is Rachel & Chip Faitel. For

They will offer another three-class session in September,
October & November which will cover January to June 2013 weddings.
We also offer Pre-Marriage Classes in January and
April 2012. For information on those classes, call the rectory.
These classes are mandatory for anyone being married at
Grotto.
Grotto Altar Care is in need
of more members to help clean the church on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30
a.m. in order to maintain and keep our standards of excellence in
maintaining and preserving our Holy Historic church. Jobs are as
follows: Change Holy Water after cleaning Holy Water Fonts; Clean
Priests Sacristy (instructions will be given); put up all kneelers and
tidy up books and pews; change candle foil, sift through extinguishing
sand; Vacuum all church rugs, front, back, altar, sacristy; Dust all
wooden surfaces around altar; clean confessionals; Sweep choir loft and
down the stairs, Clean side altars. Please call the Rectory Office and
leave your name and phone number to volunteer.
Your gifts to the CSA Appeal allow the Archdiocesan Office
of Priestly Vocations to strengthen vocations for men to serve as
priests. A
discernment overnight, for men ages 14-18, will be held
April 13-14, and
a day of discernment with Archbishop Allen Vigneron, for men ages 17-55,
will take place on February 25th.
